Setia Pearl Island
Overview
Setia Pearl Island is a large-scale residential development strategically located within Penang’s established transport network, offering seamless connectivity to both the island and mainland via major expressways and bridges. Developed on the former Pearl Island Country Club site, the project spans approximately 120 acres and is envisioned as a serene tropical island community.
Master Planning & Landscape Identity
The development is organised into six distinctive residential isles, each defined by its own landscape character and thematic planting strategy:
Isle of Palm
Isle of Life
Isle of Aroma
Isle of Conifer
Isle of View
D’Rock
This approach creates a diverse yet cohesive living environment, allowing residents to experience varied spatial qualities while maintaining a unified master plan.
Design Concept — Return to Nature
The landscape design is guided by the concept “Return to Nature,” emphasising environmental responsibility, long-term sustainability, and respect for the site’s existing conditions. The design balances ecological sensitivity with contemporary residential comfort, creating a calm, resort-like atmosphere within an urban context.
Sustainability & Site Responsiveness
Sustainability was a key driver throughout the design process. The landscape strategy prioritised the use of local, eco-friendly resources, including the extensive reuse of salvaged on-site granite and the selection of native and adaptive plant species for erosion control and long-term resilience.
Significant efforts were made to preserve the site’s natural rocky terrain, minimising land disturbance and avoiding blasting where possible. This approach allowed the natural landscape character to remain an integral part of the development’s identity.
